FP7 programme

Almost all EGS support has been provided in relation to the EU Framework programmes. These are the main mechanism of funding of research by the European Union, in order to stimulate European cooperation, increase competitiveness, and help solve important environmental, social and health problems.

The current Framework 7 Programme (FP7) is operating 2007-2013. Funding is provided on a shared-cost basis in four main programmes:

Cooperation
Aiming to generate new scientific knowledge, through large and small collaborative research projects

Ideas
Funding for basic research through the new European Research Council, including grants for individual research groups.

People
Providing training for young researchers and reversing the brain-drain, through the Marie Curie scheme.

Capacity
Funding for research facilities and infrastructure to be of benefit for European researchers, also including schemes especially for benefit of SMEs and studying science and society.

EGS has experience particularly in supporting small and large collaborative projects, coordination networks, SME-specific measures, support actions, and Marie Curie training schemes. The FP7 workprogrammes are released on a periodic basis. EGS is active in identifying suitable topics of interest for its clients, and can advise the suitability of various funding schemes.
